Waste Reduction Act Timeline

The Waste Reduction Act is legislation that replaces the current Waste Diversion Act (WDA), and aims to drastically reshape how waste is managed in Ontario. Recycling Council of Ontario has long been an advocate for replacement legislation to the WDA.

June 6, 2013: The Government of Ontario announces new legislation to replace the Waste Diversion Act. The proposed Waste Reduction Act promises to make producers responsible for waste reduction, eliminate eco-fees, and increase diversion acts in the IC&I sector, among other things.
